Performance of Spa Shell
At Lion Spas the technologies and materials we use to produce the shell has been gained from decades of experience in this field. The shell is probably the most important item to consider when you purchase a spa. If the spa shell develops a crack or a leak it may be very hard or impossible to repair apart from the great expense to fix it. Therefore, when choosing a spa, it is important to know that this will not happen. This is why our shell is supported by a floor and frame that are all equally as strong. No weak links. We are so confident in the performance of our shell that we offer a 10 year warranty against leakage to the original owner.
The spa shell is made from genuine cross linked 'Lucite' acrylic and is available in a variety of colours and finishes such as granite, marble and lustre. Naturally, when you invest in a spa, you want reassurance that its made to last through summer and winters year after year. ‘Lucite’ cast acrylic has been the leading brand of spa pool acrylic in the USA since spa pools were introduced there. ‘Lucite’ is a non porous weatherable material that’s highly resistant to chemicals, stains and with proper care and use has been shown to retain its properties far longer than other spa materials and delivers incomparable beauty and durability.
The correct vacuum forming (shaping with heat and vacuum) technique is also critical so that stress is not put in to the material only to show up as a fault years later. At Lion Spas we have an enormous amount of experience and so avoid this danger. The under side of the formed acrylic is then strengthened with a layer of vinyl ester laminate which is a fail-safe barrier against water or chemical penetration and provides the perfect bond between the acrylic sheet and the fibre glass. Multiple layers of polyester fibre glass are then applied to the shell to provide further strength.
